Current Client Focus Areas
While I specialize in anxiety across the lifespan, below are some more recent topic areas I’ve been focusing on…
College Students, Young Professionals and the “Quarter-Life Crisis” in Silicon Valley
I’ve dedicate the last several years of my practice to working with college students. Beginning with the transition from high school and following them in to the transition to post-college life plans.
Finding your place in Silicon Valley, as a young professional, is more stressful now than ever. The cost of living, the competitive nature of business (and espeically the ever-evolving tech industry), maintaining friendships and relationships, striving for a healthy lifestyle… and oh yeah, SELF CARE… there never seems to be enough time. I offer a unique perspective and supportive presence to young professionals, informed through my own experience, as well as expertise built through years of working with this population.
Women’s Issues
As a woman myself, I feel strongly about empowering young girls and women, and supporting challenges faced throughout the lifespan. Whether it be a young tween figuring out friendships and her identity, or a new mother finding balance and time for self care, or an “empty nester” looking for new meaning in the next chapter of life, I specialize in issues faced throughout the female experience.
Some focus areas of late include:
Identity and Self Worth
Work-related Stressors
Friendships
Body Image
Fertility & Women’s Health
New Mom Challenges/Stressors: changing identity, loss of personal time/space, finding balance, returning to work, body image, etc.
Postpartum Anxiety and Depression
Parenting
Aging
Caring for Aging Family Members
Children, Tweens/Teens, and Parent Support
I’ve dedicated almost ten years specializing in work with younger populations. Challenges faced by children, adolescents and teens today are unique and complex. Young people and parents can greatly benefit from outside support.
Whether it be school-based challenges, learning differences, self-esteem, frustration, or making friends and socializing/social media navigation, our children face many stressors. In a world of more and more screen time, social media bullying, and video game addiction, young children are experiencing anxiety and self esteem challenges at unprecedented levels.
For tween/teens, navigating and exploring themes of one’s identity, friendships, peer pressure, and temptations such as vaping, may be among only a few of the things on their mind.
Our children and adolescents are attempting to cope through so many challenges, all while under pressure to perform well in school, sports/extracurriculars, etc., in a fast-paced, competitive environment.
Counseling provides a unique, safe space to share their deepest thoughts and feelings.
Parents strive to create an outlet for their children, while they too are overwhelmed, looking for balance and seeking support. Parents can benefit from emotional support, as well. I specialize in finding a way to work with both the child/teen and the parent, to create a team-based approach.
